Budget Powered Respirators from eBay - As Good as a VersaFlo™?
This dagger looking nice, but I'm curious about this mechanism and point of it
They were used as part of fencing theatre during the renaissance

My goodness! That’s amazing. I was listening to your podcast today while I was working on a video. I’ve sent a email to your forgecast link. Could you check it out?
Mate I haven't been a host of the forgecast for well over a year, sorry.
I haven’t gotten far in it yet 😅. Who is and how can I get a hold of them?
If you have sent in an email im sure they'll get to it. The show hasn't been as regular since I left. Just wait a while I'm sure you'll hear from them.
Great song choice, been awhile since I heard that! Can’t wait to see the finished product
Loved it! 😂
San mai goodness 🤏
Very few videos I watch start to end but this I did thank you. I heard it on forgecast went back looked for it.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Thank you. Very informative review 👍 i believe the trend is P2 rated vs the versaflow, which is P3. And also with 3m you can install an additional gas filter and particulates. We're the trend has only particulates option.
That's right! As a knifemaker, however, I only need to worry about grinder dust, though, so P2 does great for me!
I'm praying no one ahead of me on the dibs list grabs this
That looks amazing!
Thank you!
Ngl that knife turns me on a little
Hell yes boss, they don't need to be pretty if they stop you burning holes in your hands then I say strike while the iron is hot🤘🤘
Right on
@@ValhallaIronworks look man I'm a blacksmith who doesn't even have a website or a single RUclips video yet your kicking ass just keep going and don't look back your not going that way. 💪
This video just reminded me that i messed up my firepot shape when i loaned out my rivet forge...
Thata some rooooough looking greensand. I make my own start to finish, classify pure silica sand, powder bentonite clay mix wet and mull it, greensand should hardly leave any grains on your hand when its properly made wet and mulled. Grains all over the hand usually means too wet or not mulled properly. I do 2 part molds for plastic injection machines and get a near perfect face, i just do a light lap on flat sandpaper (it has to be an immaculate face to seal) so for anyone wondering- it is possible to get incredible accuracy and detail with good green sand/delft clay.
You only need green sand to be as good as you need it to be. If you're looking to slap out rough ingots for storage or milling, you don't need a perfect cast. Not everything needs to be utter perfection right out of the gate.
I enjoy listening to your explanations. They make sense. Thanks
Glad you like them!
NiMH batteries haven't suffered from the memory issue for ages, Eneloops are used by everyone and use the same tech. I know LiPO is safer than Li-Ion but not sure if NiMH is safer again? Definitely don't want a bigger battery that can have thermal runaway sitting on my dome. Anyway, thanks for the video was an absolutely excellent in depth review of the product.
Great video, very informative just the kind of knowledge I've been trying to obtain before I build my forge. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Why did you start with mammen stitch then change to Oslo stitch?
Because on my channel I can do whatever I want
@@ValhallaIronworks not helpful
that is WICKED bro i am a huge fan of steampunk and knives
Thank you! It's one of my favourite knives I've ever made.
@@ValhallaIronworks your welcome! Love your videos
Wish I could like this twice. You just saved me some hassle. Going to try and reline what I have. If not, it’s off to get a new design.
Glad it helped! I've been getting a lot of comments like this on this video series. Time for me to make some more, I think!
So if I wanted home depot to do all the cuts for me, what measurements would I need to give them?
The dimensions don't matter. Just the features.
"Highfives in cheap japaneese style coalforge life"
Superb video. Gonna go check estate sales for a handcrank. Your content was well made and helped alot. Glad i found your page first. Subbed. And dubbed broheim.
Welcome aboard!
That’s so cool!
Thank you!
Very thorough review. My company has been at work on a PAPR that's simpler (all in one design monocoque manifold). Our aim is a PAPR that's more accessible to the DIY crowd. When we have certification, would you be willing to give it a try to compare? Its called MicroClimate Air3.
Absolutely. After testing out so many different types I'd be happy to give it a full review.
If you'd like to get in touch, my email is valhalla.ironworks.au@gmail.com
Loving the podcast. Finally RUclips shows me shorts of you just through my feed.
Welcome aboard!
You do amazing work
Thank you!
That is stunning mate. Very inspirational . Keep up the great work. I'd give you a thumbs up emoji but , you know . : )
Thank you!
With both Blades open it looks like a classy Batterang .There's a challenge , build Batmans Batterang.
best video on forge design on the internet
Thank you! Next one will be about belt grinders!
Just bought the Trend Airshield and then saw your video. Thank you very much for the 3d files. I will be building my own battery and charger. Have you thought about replacing the batteries with LIthium Ion batteries?
I actually mention that in the video! The replacements I made for my system are all lithium ion. So much better than the old NiMH
That thing is pure art! I'm sure it cuts like lightning int he night's sky as well, but even when it is not in use it is a joy to behold.
Lookin good brother!
I just Brough a 2 burners forge, if i'm only use 1 can i put.some "fire brick" in the middle? O theres is a better option?
You can do that, sure. Just try to minimise the forge heat from being able to reach the mouth of the burner that isn't running
@@ValhallaIronworks thanks!
Wondering who makes the Australian blower... if they still do?
There's an Australian brand I know of called "Rapid". I don't think they still manufacture them, though.
I’m betting that there’s a similar markup on the helmet . You can buy an auto-darkening helmet for a lot less. My other concern is that the filter is not a hepa filter.
It would only need a hepa filter if it were rated for certain things - this one is more of a light duty filtration solution for sawdust and metal dust, so these filters work pretty well. I can attest to them working well, because at the end of a day the outside of this helmet is covered in dust, but the inside is still pristine!
Best intro ever!
This is the beauty of the internet. One individual solves a big companies problem for free and share with the others... Thank you very very much.
Thanks for watching!
Fart problem... That can be the best guide video on the planet.
It's a real problem! hahaha
great review!
Thank you! Cheers!
You forgot to talk about type of filters and their prices, i think that for chemical stuff 3m may be the only option but for simple dust others maybe cheaper
The VersaFlo has quite considerable battery longevity issues, and I've known a few people now who have them where they're now completely unusable. This one has cleanable filters as standard, and can easily be modified for universal power. In my mind that makes it superior to the VersaFlo.
@@ValhallaIronworks yes versaflo batteries are expensive and cant be just exchanged for tool batteries (you can do that with adflo) - there is not communication between adflo and battery, but i personaly like versaflo for size and filters but for price and better value adflo is better and the stackable filters are soo nice Ps. Versaflo charging dock pogo pins that connect battery are the weak point of this system, And in adflo bigger batteries are less drop resistand then the smaller ones (the size- height wise)
I think that second hand versaflo/adflo maybe the best or second best option
Great work
Thanks! Though this was many years ago and I've come a long way since!
Another way to demagnitize.... i discovered on accident, just playibg around when i was 15, had a magnet on a steel file cabinet, and thought, wonder what happens if i torch a magnet?..... at a certain high temp, that thing will lose ALL its magnetic properties at once. That magnet fell off the file cabinet and melted a hole in the carpet xD The dumb things we did when we were teenagers, am i right? Lmao Well im brand new to blacksmithing. My forge should arrive today and in still selecting an anvil (thanks for the help btw!). But yeah, idk if theres a problem with tourching the hell out of a new anvil, or maybe i couldnt heat it up enough if the anvil is too big, but if theres no problem with that i suppose u could also just heat it up and see how it works. If i get one that i can return, maybe ill try the heat method on the anvil if it comes magnetized, and let you guys know how it works.. and If something bad happens ill just send it back xD
It's a fun thought! But anvils are typically made of hardened steel, and torching it would de-temper it, causing it to lose that hardness, so I wouldn't recommend it. You wouldn't want to finally get your anvil and then ruin it!
Really honestly, I find a slight bit of magnetism in my anvil to be HUGELY helpful, as it helps keep my work in place in those moments where I can't hold it well. Since making this video I've come to the conclusion that I'd like to DELIBERATELY make my anvils magnetic if I could!
@@ValhallaIronworks ahhh ya I don't want to torch it then lol. But hey, if u wanna remagnetize, u could buy a strong magnet like an n32, n42, n54, and leave it on your anvil when not in use.... u might wanna put a towel under it, because it will be insanely hard to pull an n52 off metal with your hand. I have one.. Also, if u try to lay it down barehanded the thing could really smash your fingers, and i mean bad, like it could probably take a finger off... So fold a towel under it so u can use that to lift the magnet again later, and still be careful laying it down and picking it up. But those are available on Amazon in different strengths, shapes and sizes. 👍
where is the love button, you are a fantastic human being. honestly well done with all that you have achieved over the last few years. I will be following slow and steady
Thank you so much 😊
I'm goingbtobhave to rewatch this a few times: It's exactly the kind of info I need. I have an old rivet forge with no refractory: Just the steel pan. I need to figure out how to line it, and this video has described what I need to create, better than any other video I've found. Thank you!
Very glad that it was helpful!
Nice talk about solid fuel forge! :) As charcoal is made of... well... just cut and dryed wood isn't it also like coconut coal renewable? :) btw: what brand is that hand cranked blower?
It's a Zomax! The original source of the charcoal does indeed make a difference. I had hoped to be able to use coconut fibre charcoal to power my forge, and it DOES work, but I really struggled to get it hot enough to forge weld. Would have made for a cool alternative if it had worked!
Love the size and blade profile, probably the perfect edc for most people.
Wow, those are fantastic! Was this a commission job?
Thank you! Not for a commission, no, just my regular routine!
Have the 9100FX welding helmet mate and wouldn't be without it have been a fab/welder for most of my life and have had this unit about 12-14 years game changer. You will never regret buying one. Also respirators are a total hazard as they reduce the oxygen level you are able to breathe 16.9-17.4% too low to meet compliance for confined space entry at 19.5% being the lowest acceptable, so a respirator/mask is actually harming you and puts your body into a state of oxygen depletion. Thought that might help with your discision making cheers
The brass Shoe, boot what ever you want to call it on the scabbard is sweet! love how you did that!
