    Thata some rooooough looking greensand. I make my own start to finish, classify pure silica sand, powder bentonite clay mix wet and mull it, greensand should hardly leave any grains on your hand when its properly made wet and mulled. Grains all over the hand usually means too wet or not mulled properly. I do 2 part molds for plastic injection machines and get a near perfect face, i just do a light lap on flat sandpaper (it has to be an immaculate face to seal) so for anyone wondering- it is possible to get incredible accuracy and detail with good green sand/delft clay.

    • @ValhallaIronworks
      @ValhallaIronworks 16 дней назад

      You only need green sand to be as good as you need it to be. If you're looking to slap out rough ingots for storage or milling, you don't need a perfect cast. Not everything needs to be utter perfection right out of the gate.

    NiMH batteries haven't suffered from the memory issue for ages, Eneloops are used by everyone and use the same tech. I know LiPO is safer than Li-Ion but not sure if NiMH is safer again? Definitely don't want a bigger battery that can have thermal runaway sitting on my dome. Anyway, thanks for the video was an absolutely excellent in depth review of the product.

    I’m betting that there’s a similar markup on the helmet . You can buy an auto-darkening helmet for a lot less. My other concern is that the filter is not a hepa filter.

    • @ValhallaIronworks
      @ValhallaIronworks Месяц назад

      It would only need a hepa filter if it were rated for certain things - this one is more of a light duty filtration solution for sawdust and metal dust, so these filters work pretty well. I can attest to them working well, because at the end of a day the outside of this helmet is covered in dust, but the inside is still pristine!

      The VersaFlo has quite considerable battery longevity issues, and I've known a few people now who have them where they're now completely unusable. This one has cleanable filters as standard, and can easily be modified for universal power. In my mind that makes it superior to the VersaFlo.

    • @ftt2757
      @ftt2757 Месяц назад

      @@ValhallaIronworks yes versaflo batteries are expensive and cant be just exchanged for tool batteries (you can do that with adflo) - there is not communication between adflo and battery, but i personaly like versaflo for size and filters but for price and better value adflo is better and the stackable filters are soo nice Ps. Versaflo charging dock pogo pins that connect battery are the weak point of this system, And in adflo bigger batteries are less drop resistand then the smaller ones (the size- height wise)

    Another way to demagnitize.... i discovered on accident, just playibg around when i was 15, had a magnet on a steel file cabinet, and thought, wonder what happens if i torch a magnet?..... at a certain high temp, that thing will lose ALL its magnetic properties at once. That magnet fell off the file cabinet and melted a hole in the carpet xD The dumb things we did when we were teenagers, am i right? Lmao Well im brand new to blacksmithing. My forge should arrive today and in still selecting an anvil (thanks for the help btw!). But yeah, idk if theres a problem with tourching the hell out of a new anvil, or maybe i couldnt heat it up enough if the anvil is too big, but if theres no problem with that i suppose u could also just heat it up and see how it works. If i get one that i can return, maybe ill try the heat method on the anvil if it comes magnetized, and let you guys know how it works.. and If something bad happens ill just send it back xD

    • @ValhallaIronworks
      @ValhallaIronworks Месяц назад

      It's a fun thought! But anvils are typically made of hardened steel, and torching it would de-temper it, causing it to lose that hardness, so I wouldn't recommend it. You wouldn't want to finally get your anvil and then ruin it!

    • @ValhallaIronworks
      @ValhallaIronworks Месяц назад

      Really honestly, I find a slight bit of magnetism in my anvil to be HUGELY helpful, as it helps keep my work in place in those moments where I can't hold it well. Since making this video I've come to the conclusion that I'd like to DELIBERATELY make my anvils magnetic if I could!

    • @trevorfichtner3539
      @trevorfichtner3539 Месяц назад

      @@ValhallaIronworks ahhh ya I don't want to torch it then lol. But hey, if u wanna remagnetize, u could buy a strong magnet like an n32, n42, n54, and leave it on your anvil when not in use.... u might wanna put a towel under it, because it will be insanely hard to pull an n52 off metal with your hand. I have one.. Also, if u try to lay it down barehanded the thing could really smash your fingers, and i mean bad, like it could probably take a finger off... So fold a towel under it so u can use that to lift the magnet again later, and still be careful laying it down and picking it up. But those are available on Amazon in different strengths, shapes and sizes. 👍

Also respirators are a total hazard as they reduce the oxygen level you are able to breathe 16.9-17.4% too low to meet compliance for confined space entry at 19.5% being the lowest acceptable, so a respirator/mask is actually harming you and puts your body into a state of oxygen depletion. Thought that might help with your discision making cheers
